ANSYS
noah.ncat.edu
  1. Run the following script: /opt/ncat/share/tools/ansys_launcher.pl <application_name>. Runing the script with no options will cause a list of possible ANSYS applications to be displayed. (Or)
  2. Set your DISPLAY environment variable.
  3. Set the following environment variables: CFXROOT=/usr/local/apps/irix64/cfx57/CFX-5.7, ICEM_ACN=/usr/local/apps/irix64/cfd43/4.3-sgi64, ICEM_LICENSE_FILE= /usr/local/apps/irix64/cfd43/4.3-sgi64/lic/license.dat.
  4. Add the following directories to your PATH: /usr/local/apps/irix64/cfd43/4.3-sgi64/bin, /usr/local/apps/irix64/cfx57/CFX-5.7/bin, /ansys/v81/ansys/bin.
  5. Note: /ansys_inc is a symbolic link to /usr/local/apps/irix64/ansys_inc
  6. To start ANSYS run: 'launcher81'.
  7. To start ParaMesh: 'csh /usr/local/apps/irix64/ansys_inc/v80/paramesh/v23/ParaMesh.sh'
  8. To start CFX-5: 'cfx5'
  9. To start icemcfd: 'icemcfd'

Tecplot

  1. Set your DISPLAY environment variable.
  2. Set the following variables: TEC100HOME=/usr/local/apps/irix64/tec100
    TLMHOST=@noah.ncat.edu
  3. Add "$TEC100HOME/bin" to your PATH.
  4. Start the application by typing: 'tecplot'
Abaqus

  1. Set your DISPLAY environment variable.
  2. Add /usr/local/apps/irix64/abaqus/Commands to your PATH.
  3. See the Abaqus documentation page.
  4. To start the application: 'abaqus cae'
MSC Patran/Nastran

  1. Set your DISPLAY environment variable.
  2. Add /usr/local/apps/irix64/msc/bin to your PATH variable.
  3. Set the following variable: MSC_LICENSE_FILE=1700@noah
  4. To start it simply type: nastran or patran.
  5. There are test files in: /usr/local/apps/irix64/msc/patran2004/test_files.
FiberSIM for ProEngineer

  1. This application runs on your Windows laptop or workstation.
  2. Download (sftp or scp) the following files from noah: FiberSIM_4.2_Setup.exe, and protk.dat (located in the '/usr/local/apps/irix64/fibersim/download' directory).
  3. See 'FiberSIM' client installation instructions in teh .pdf or simply run the 'FiberSIM_4.2_Setup.exe'. The license server is 'noah.ncat.edu'. The port number is '1800'.
  4. Now you have FiberSIM installed, but to use it you need ProEngineer.
  5. Install ProEngineer (I have the CD's or I will give them to Dr. Hinton or Mayura Mangale). The license server for ProEngineer is coeserver.ncat.edu (take the default port number).
  6. After successfully installing ProEngineer please copy the 'protk.dat' to the C:/Program Files/proeWildfire/text directory (or the directory where you installed ProE), this will add FiberSIM to the 'Applications' directory on ProE.

Tripos (Sybyl, BioPolymer, Molcad)

  1. Add '/usr/local/apps/irix64/tripos/trigo' to the beginning of your PATH.
  2. Export your DISPLAY.
  3. Run: 'trigo -shell admintools7.0A' to set the other necessary variables.
  4. Run: 'trigo -list' to list possible applications.
  5. Run: 'trigo <application_name>' to start an application.
